چکیده

he circulatory system provides body organs with nutrients nd oxygen and removes carbon dioxide and other waste aterials. Most exchanges occur at the capillary bed. The apillary exchange is not fixed but regulated by several facors such as hydrostatic and oncotic pressure in the vascular nd extracellular compartments.1 Himeno et al2 tried to preict mathematically a steady state tissue volume and protein ovement at capillary bed in response to change in blood ressure. By using a capillary model, which was based on Staring’s principle, they concluded that the system of the capillary s stable near equilibrium at a normal physiological capilary pressure and the time course of tissue volume change s determined by the rapid fluid exchange and protein fluxes. his article is especially invaluable in that effects of nonlinear ompliance, lymphatic fluid, and protein drainage on dynamic issue volume were systematically assessed by using an interated computational model of capillary fluid exchange. We ope the capillary fluid exchange model is further integrated nto the model of heart and circulation to explain how intake r loss of fluid, salt, and protein can develop tissue dehydraion or edema.

Perspectives of physiome research

Physiome is an area of physiology to generate a whole system by analyzing and integrating scattered and discrete information. The term "physiome" was first introduced by James B. Bassingthwaight in 1993, and officially announced by the International Union of Physiological Societies as the new field to be accomplished in the 21st century. In this review, I introduce the concepts of physiome, why...

The IUPS Physiome Project: a framework for computational physiology.

The IUPS Physiome Project is an internationally collaborative open-source project to provide a public domain framework for computational physiology, including the development of modelling standards, computational tools and web-accessible databases of models of structure and function at all spatial scales. A number of papers in this volume deal with the development of specific mathematical model...

Uncertainty and variability in computational and mathematical models of cardiac physiology

KEY POINTS Mathematical and computational models of cardiac physiology have been an integral component of cardiac electrophysiology since its inception, and are collectively known as the Cardiac Physiome. We identify and classify the numerous sources of variability and uncertainty in model formulation, parameters and other inputs that arise from both natural variation in experimental data and l...

The Virtual Physiological Human - a European initiative for in silico human modelling -.

The Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) is an initiative, strongly supported by the European Commission (EC), that seeks to develop an integrated model of human physiology at multiple scales from the whole body through the organ, tissue, cell and molecular levels to the genomic level. VPH had its beginnings in 2005 with informal discussions amongst like-minded scientists which led to the STEP pro...

An OWL knowledge base for classifying and querying collections of physiological models: A prototype human physiome

The human physiome is envisioned as the quantitative description of the whole of human physiology. Researchers actively working toward achieving this grand challenge have populated publicly available repositories of quantitative physiological models; however, no mechanism has been developed that integrates the information from these models into a single knowledge resource that can be said to re...
